Uncle Yarra
I’m pretty sure from previous notes that you’ve seen the TV series “Churchill’s bodyguard”. Odd how they didn’t mention that he coralled the French Navy and sunk most of it with French crew still on board.
Probably the only time a battleship ever fired it main guns and hit a target. Pity it was against one of their allies.
BTW, didya see how much his dentures went for? Bizarre. even the aucioneer reckoned they were worth ‘only’ 10k pounds.

Yarra, friendly or unfriendly fire, depending on how far you want to go back. That must have pissed off the surviving French Navy.

It was war, the French were capitulating to Germany and the French Admiral was as stubborn as Churchill.

OK, understand it was a Vichi warship. Fair Game, then.
(Besides, they were French, a long-time naval enemy).
