How Did We End Up With Such Unpopular Candidates?
They are us.
By PETER VAN BUREN • September 27, 2016

By all accounts an intelligent, committed feminist coming out of law school, she quickly fell into the classic 1950s TV role of dependent spouse—a first lady, first of Arkansas when Bill was governor, and of course again in the White House. Sure, she was given health care to mess around with during Bill’s first term, but when the issue crashed and burned, she was reassigned to make safe speeches calling for more rights for women and girls. Safe in that she was allowed to pound the pulpit for those ideals in enemy territory like China, but not in countries like Saudi Arabia.

  1. The interesting points were that China is now even with the U.S. as the biggest importer and that they have increased the amount they get from Russia by a significant 30% in the last two years.

  2. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this apparently true factoid:

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2014/12/05/china-used-more-concrete-in-3-years-than-the-u-s-used-in-the-entire-20th-century-infographic/#6b5b35487194

Unless the Chinese did something truly amazing with all that concrete, for example, a one-off event like the Three Gorges Dam, it would seem to indicate that the Chinese economy has gone exponential. I recall the Three Gorges Dam was completed some years ago, so that would indicate something else in the past 3 years, i.e., ghost cities, inter-city highway systems, docks, moron dams, etc.

If so, then we gave them the keys to the global economy, and we are now passengers on the bus along with everyone else. Something like that.

  3. Sellers died at age 55. I think it was a heart attack. later interviews of him showed advanced aging–he really looked old for his age. i suspect that the acting pressure to perform well, or in his case, to perform outstanding, original comedy, using various props and accents, took its toll. watching Sellers perform reminds me of Charlie Chaplin, but most of his old stuff was in silent films, so no need to provide voice. Chaplin lived a long time.

  4. Gimmie Shelter–always a crowd pleaser. imagine living to age 70 and having the body, voice and hair of old Mic Jaggar. amazing. at least some of the band look their age.

  5. yeah, i don’t know about this story, one way or the other. but i have stopped looking at zerohedge. they just make up too much shit to be taken seriously. i guess…
